Pro The Pros: What Redditors Love
I spent weeks searching and comparing the two, and ended up choosing the MacBook Pro M1 Pro, and I don't regret it at all. The screen is much better, 120Hz, better sound, much higher brightness nits, the 14-inch screen is a bit bigger than the MacBook Air's, so that alone makes it better. I recommend the MacBook Pro without a doubt.
If you have a MacBook models from 2021-on the DAC in it then it is good enough to go directly into your Denon amp. If older, I'd consider an external DAC such as the $80 SML Su1 for audiophile sound. And its got a better DAC than the on in your Denon amp. But I would buy a good cable, with good shielding/insulation in case it crossed ac lines. And copper jacks are actually better than gold. Finally, AAC music at 256 kbps is audio transparent to FLAC and ALAC, so I wouldn't be afraid of also listening to high
Get a Macbook, they're good for video editing and multiple chrome tabs and stuff. The M4 mac also has like 16 gigs of ram, you just need to upgrade the storage or get a external SSD if you want to carry a boat load of files. Hopefully you're into the apple ecosystem else it might be a pain in the butt to just connect your phone to the laptop. But yeah mac will offer you a better value here
Con The Cons: Real-World Issues
I'm look for a thin and light laptop with exceptional battery life (biggest priority), as my work involves moving around often during the day. I prefer windows os, which is my only downside with the MBA, I've tried macOS and did not personally enjoy the experience. No need for dedicated gpus, but I would like the performance to be adequate for day-to-day task as well as media consumption at home, no gaming. Cannot use ARM chips as some programs I need are not compatible. Screen size of 14-6in, OLED preferred but
I’m currently using a MacBook Pro from 2015😂 and it’s slowing down because of software update.
