Pro The Pros: What Redditors Love
The fight over picture purity vs what I actually like So I have the Bravia 8 and I love it. My first OLED. I consider myself a bit of a purist when it comes to picture accuracy. I have it on Professional in SDR and regular HDR, with tweaks, but I've finally accepted the fact that for Dolby Vision content I prefer Dolby Vision Bright. I just like it better. There, I said it. I've come clean. Please don't hate me. Bravia 8 Bravia 8
A95L and the Bravia 8 II are both QD-OLED screens. Bravia 8 is a WOLED. G5 is also a WOLED however it uses 4 stack technology. I’m in similar situation deciding between Bravia 8 and G5. The only thing G5 has over the Bravia 8 is brightness, however processing, motion handling, colour accuracy, built in sound etc the Sony Bravia 8 is superior for your needs. The Bravia 8 II improves the brightness with the QD-OLED panel however is more expensive. LG much superior TV for gaming. If you’re worried about buying a 3
When I was in the store I noticed the Bravia 8 looked dim next to the C4 last year, and again the C5 this year. The Bravia 8 also doesn’t get as good of reviews as LG does on Rtings. I recently purchased the Bravia 8 and it’s not a dim tv at all - it is very bright and nothing like the in-store demos. I compared the Bravia 8 with my G4 and the G4 is a bit b
Best 77” for your budget and maximum longevity/reliability in mind is the Sony bravia 8.
Currently have a Samsung tu7000 55 inch that i bought back in 2020 which surprisingly have severed well with no issues despite the hate i see it gets .was not really knowledgeable and just went and bought anything the first time so trying to make a more targeted purchase this time Recently upgraded to the ps5 pro so looking to be able to utilize it have been looking into the Sony Bravia 8 and the lg c5 Tv is my bedroom mounted on the wall pretty dark even during the day Main use is for gaming in my ps5 I al
As far as I’m aware that’s as good as it gets or very close minus TV’s that have anti glare, but you’ll lose significant quality. I highly recommend some blinds and/or black out curtains…they do wonders. I have like 7 windows/doors that have outside light coming in and a bravia 8 II, but I have almost no issues with light/glare.
Con The Cons: Real-World Issues
Agree— I have a Bravia 8. I turned off motion. I was getting artifacts. I too like Bright Vision or just Vivid— enjoy what you enjoy. We watched a few movies as a family, and I switched between settings. Most liked Bright or Vivid. I also have it in a lower level with limited sun/windows. The contrast and blacks are amazing. I could like it brighter but don’t want to pay for an 8 Mark 2 or switch to LG or Samsung. I went from a 65 x900f Sony to a 77in B8.
Two Sony TVs have died on me. Bought a Sony A80CL from Costco in July 2024. 93 days later it died, likely the main board. Sony replaced it under warranty with a Bravia 8. 16 months later my Bravia 8 just died, this time total power failure. Sony refused to offer anything on this, luckily I bought it from Costco who extended the warranty and they will be handling it. Are people having problems like this? I wasn't doing anything that would cause this and it's really made me not want to buy or recommend a Sony to any
