Lenovo ThinkPad

Quick take

Reddit discussion around Lenovo ThinkPad points most clearly to office users. Strong value for the money is the main reason why, especially for everyday work, school, and portability. The main drawback is fan noise and heat, so it makes less sense for buyers who need dependable daily reliability. In buyer terms, it still reads as a good value pick.

Deeper Read

Reddit users are repeating a similar read across 23 separate discussion sources, not just one isolated thread. Strong value for the money is the clearest draw, yet complaints around fan noise and heat are too consistent to ignore. So the fit is easier to explain for office users than as a blanket recommendation. In buyer terms, it acts more like a work-focused laptop than a category leader.

ThinkPad P1 Gen 3 heatsink assembly replacement Hey r/thinkpad! I've been daily driving my P1 Gen 3 (i9-10855H / T2000) since 2021. It seems one of the fans has finally begun its inevitable path to failure. Whenever it spins up higher than 2500 RPM, there's a distinct noise, almost like something is hitting the fan blades. I've popped the bottom cover and cleaned the fan. I also thoroughly inspected it for any possible debris, but as expected, it was completely clear (I regularly clean the cooling system). After

Buddy, your laptop has 2 ram slots, go to Facebook Marketplace and buy 2 Sticks of DDR4 of 8 gb each one My Thinkpad T580 has the same chipset as yours but with 8 gb of ram and is running quite well, and also for that laptop instead of Windows 11 and that RAM Taking, use Linux Mint, it takes less ram. But yeah your main problem is having a 4gb ram stick instead you should upgrade that ram and your laptop is going to be really nice! Upgradeable and modifiable 2026-03-08

If you want to get the best experience, you should consider 14-inch models gen 1-2, because there were still good keyboards, ram upgrade option in some models and good performance. Three days ago I bought a P14s Gen 2, got 32 Gb RAM, new SSD and Intel AX210 WiFi card. In my opinion ThinkPads should be upgradeable and modifiable. I'm going to change the display soon.

Don't regret buying 2026-03-06

My first ThinkPad T470 I got this ThinkPad from Amazon Rewened because I was looking for one for my studies, and I'm really hooked on this brand of laptop. I don't regret buying it at all. I've even added another 8GB of RAM and a 480GB SSD. It's perfect for what I use it for: Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya, and a few simple games. The only downside is that it didn't come with an internal battery, only an external one, but I'll buy that one later. ThinkPad T470 ThinkPad T470

Better built machines 2026-02-13

Never shop for anything by brand. Go into a store and handle the laptops physically. You can generally get a feel for the quality by gently twisting the chassis while the lid is closed. Better built machines will have little to no flex when you do this, while crappier machines will have a lot. Also, look at online reviews for the machines. Any laptop brand will make a dud, that’s just how it goes. Find the model of laptop and look up some reviews for it. Thinkpads are generally fantastic machines, as are the vi

Most functionalities desired 2026-01-16

Save some money by* getting an used lenovo thinkpad ( possibly an AMD x86_64 architecture system no older than 3rd gen). You will have a stable system that has most functionalities you desire which can occasionally do some gaming like CSGO, Valorant etc. But, if you really want to get a new one, HP doesn't seems so bad. The lenovo should work for you in most cases if you want to save some money for something else like a keyboard/mouse or books or whatever you want to.

Better aftersales support 2026-01-15

Get business grade systems, like a lenovo ThinkPad or precision from dell. They generally have better aftersales support and part supply. They might cost a bit lesser than your budget as well, plus I think a core ultra 5 or core 5 would suffice for the workload you've described.
