Technics AZ100 Review: Best TWS Sound Under $350, ANC Limits & Who Should Buy

Quick take

Technics AZ100 is the TWS earphone buyers reach for when sound quality is the priority — multiple owners who've A/B-tested it against Sony and JBL describe it as the clear winner for audio fidelity, warmer bass, and wider soundstage. The trade-off is ANC: Sony's XM4 and XM6 outperform it in London Underground-level noise. Add a mic that sounds robotic to call recipients and an app multiple owners call awful, and the AZ100 rewards buyers who value sonic quality over feature parity.

Buying Verdict

Worth shortlisting

The AZ100 sits at the top of the premium TWS consideration set for buyers who prioritize sound quality and bass over ANC performance — multiple comparisons position it as the better-sounding option against Sony and JBL alternatives while conceding the ANC comparison. Battery, multipoint, and fit for active use are documented strengths. The call mic is the clearest weakness: multiple owners describe it as robotic or unnatural. Buyers who need heavy-environment ANC as their primary criterion are better served by Sony's WF-1000XM series.

It’s typically discussed around sound quality, tuning, and whether the upgrade is worth it versus other flagship earbuds.

Flagship ANC for commuting and long flights

Worth considering

Quick Verdict: Is Technics AZ100 Worth Buying?

Best-in-class sound quality at this price point for TWS buyers who prioritize audio fidelity. ANC is adequate but not the strongest — if subway or flight ANC is your primary requirement, Sony edges it out.

Evidence confidence: Medium.

Sound quality: why buyers keep choosing AZ100 over Sony in A/B comparisons

Warm, wide soundstage that outperforms Sony and JBL alternatives in direct sound comparisons, strong battery life, reliable gym and run fit, and multipoint plus LDAC support.

ANC trails Sony XM4 in demanding transit environments, the call microphone is described as robotic by multiple owners, and the app earns consistent negative mentions. • Total evidence snippets: 57 • Updated May 24, 2026

Best for buyers who care most about sound, comfort, and daily usability who care about sound great with EQ adjustment. Compare alternatives if noise canceling consistency on commute would affect your daily use.

Best For

  • You prioritize sound quality over ANC in your TWS purchase — multiple head-to-head comparisons rank the AZ100 above Sony for audio fidelity.
  • You need a secure-fit TWS for running and gym use with strong battery life and multipoint Bluetooth.
  • You're willing to spend time EQ-tuning — multiple owners note the default tuning is already good, but EQ tweaks push it further.

Not For

  • You commute on the Underground, subway, or similar loud transit and need the strongest possible ANC — Sony XM4 is the clear choice for those conditions.

Technics AZ100 - Foam ear tips are highly recommended Greetings everyone! I got gifted a pair of Technics AZ100 earbuds for Christmas last year and found the stock ear tips which I believe to be silicone didn't fit very well at all. Technics AZ100's ANC vs competitors? I am currently looking for a pair of premium wireless earbuds and the Technics AZ100 are at the top of the list alongside the Sony WF-1000XM6. The only main thing that is making me hesitate on getting the Technics is the ANC. It is worse than its competitors (QC Ultra, APP3, XM6) that seems pretty clear to me, but how much worse is it actually? I have seen varying thoughts on this and would like to get a bit more user feedback. You can compare them to any of your previous earbu

Disappointed with Technics EAH-AZ100 Mic Quality - Thinking of switching to AirPods Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else is facing the same issue. I bought a pair of EAH-AZ100 last week. I've spent quite a bit of time tweaking the app and setting up different EQ profiles to enhance the listening experience. I had the same experience. Contrary to the popular opinion, the Sennheisers sound better than the az 100 (in my opinion). The loudness, soundstage, and overall audio quality is way better and more immersive than the az 100, especially with the sound personalization. wider soundstage 2026-04-10

The AZ100 will do. They have a wider soundstage and lean towards a warmer sound, however that can be easily EQed to get them sounding how you like them. If you are into rock or metal you will need to push the upper mids and highs up to get the guitars sounding more natural as they tend to be veiled out of the box. I do feel the MTW4s are the best for rock and metal though, but the AZ100 gets close enough. Any other genre besides rock and metal, the AZ100 does an awesome job. I have had good things about the WF-1

Buying Questions About Technics AZ100

Quick answers to the main review, complaints, buyer-fit, and comparison questions shoppers ask before choosing Technics AZ100.

Is the Technics AZ100 better than Sony WH-1000XM5 or XM6 for sound quality?

For sound quality specifically, yes according to multiple buyers who have directly A/B-tested both. One owner who owns both XM5 and AZ100 describes the Technics as "quite a bit better sound quality, particularly for its price." For ANC, Sony wins. The AZ100 is the better-sounding earphone; Sony is the stronger noise-canceller.

Does the Technics AZ100 stay in during workouts and running?

Yes — one owner switching from Jabra Elite Active 7s specifically for rigorous gym use and long runs reports reliable fit. The form factor is small enough that it stays secure during sustained activity, which distinguishes it from larger TWS designs.

How is the Technics AZ100 microphone quality for calls?

Poor — the mic is the most consistently cited weakness. Recipients report the voice sounding robotic, which is a sign of aggressive noise-processing. At least one owner seriously considered switching to AirPods Pro specifically for this reason within a week of purchase.

Is Technics AZ100 ANC as good as AirPods Pro?

The evidence positions AZ100's ANC as strong in moderate environments, but falling short of the best in class in loudest conditions. One owner describes it as "totally fine at high volume" on London Underground but acknowledges Sony XM4 outperforms it there. Comparative data on AirPods Pro specifically isn't available in the evidence.
