Sennheiser HDB 630 Review: Class-Leading Wireless Sound, Let Down by Build and Price

Quick take

The Sennheiser HDB 630 is the wireless headphone sound-quality enthusiasts keep choosing — owners repeatedly rate it the sound-first option, preferring it over the AirPods Max and B&W PX8 S2 and calling it a clear upgrade over the Momentum 4, with a near-flawless, tunable stock signature. The catch is everything around the sound: the build is plasticky and not premium, comfort and looks draw complaints, it's expensive, and a couple of owners hit bugs. If sound is your only criterion, it's a strong early signal; if you want a premium feel, weigh it carefully.

Buying Verdict

Early signal
Buyer Signal Score 3.5 / 5

If you buy wireless headphones purely for how they sound, the HDB 630 is one of the easiest recommendations — owners repeatedly call it the sound-first wireless option, preferring it to the AirPods Max and B&W PX8 S2 and describing it as a clear clarity-and-soundstage upgrade over the Momentum 4, with a near-flawless neutral-with-bass-lift stock tuning that's also tunable. What holds it back is the package around the sound: the build is plasticky and not premium, owners question the comfort and even the looks, it's expensive, and a couple hit bugs (game audio degrading when the mic is active, and random loud static at max volume). Buy it if sound quality is your one priority; look at the PX8 S2 or others if build, comfort and feel matter as much. Complaint Not well built 2026-06-05

Honestly while they are ridicolously priced (ludicrous really) and they dont feel nearly as premium as comparable product (APM, PX8) they actually deliver a package no other headphone brings to the table. Bose has the weird adaptive anc, issues with the hinge design making noises while moving and very unnecessary codec limitations. PX8 has weak ANC and Mics. HDB 630 arent build very well and arent really comfortable. Momentum 5 only average ANC and build quality etc. The Collexion dont really miss in any spot (exc

Complaint can be bassy 2026-05-31

If you like your bass, wait for the M5 :) HDB 630 *can* be bassy (with EQ) but I wouldn’t buy it (just) for that. HD 480 is great and one of the most comfortable headphones out there. Not exactly overly bassy either but it has more bass impact than the HD 505 that you love so much. Your choice ;)

HDB630 random static earrape I purchased the hdb 630 ~ 1 month ago and everything has been going pretty smoothly. Today however there have been 3 instances where the headphones randomly play static at maximum volume and it's so incredibly loud. I have music is playing through Spotify on my work laptop connected with the btd 700 dongle I also have the headphones paired with my phone but I have not been using my phone during any of the instances . Complaint Audio quality degraded during gaming 2026-03-03

HDB 630 Audio Quality when using Microphone for Gaming Good morning everyone, I'm excited as I received today my HDB 630 and so far, the sound is great and I'm enjoying them a lot. I've been using them along the dongler and the audio is great and no issue so far. However, as I joined my discord team and started talking with a couple of friends, I noticed that the audio for the game we were playing, lost quaility and started to sound really bad. I looked a bit and it seems like this is kind of 'expected'? but

great wireless headphones 2026-06-11

HDB 630 are great wireless headphones! That stock tuning is almost flawless, imo. As for recommendations on Sennheiser open-back headphones for a new audiophile, I think you cannot go wrong with the HD 550, actually! They are comfortable, easy to drive, not all that expensive and sound great as well. They are also versatile in that they work nicely for gaming and are compatible withe the HD 500 BAM if needed.

preferred sound over the b&w px8 s2 in a head-to-head 2026-06-07

Keep which? PX8 S2 vs HDB 630 I bought both as they were on flash sale. I figure I buy both first before deciding on which to keep, this way I could lock in the discounts first. The prices are in SGD 630: S$536 ($415.54) PX8 S2: S$665 ($515.54) Ive tried both of them in store, but im torn. I REALLY love the look and feel of the PX8. But prefer the sound of the 630 slightly more. After EQing I was able to get the PX8 that much closer to the 630s, albeit still a little sharper and bassier. I wish the 630s had

sound clarity upgrade 2026-06-05

Got the HDB 630 today Initial impressions are that the sound clarity is a significant upgrade over my Momentum 4's. Slightly wider soundstage too - but the way I'd describe it is you can hear individual instruments much more clearly throughout the various ranges where they can get drowned out on the M4. Overall pretty happy with the upgrade. Ask me anything HDB 630 Momentum 4 HDB 630 Momentum 4

more tunable sound 2026-06-05

Px8 S2 vs hdb 630 Hello, I'm on the verge of buying one of those 2 headphones. Hdb 630 seems like the more logical choice in that its more tunable and the sound is less " opinionated" but I can't get over how ugly it looks. Big, plasticky and generally not good. Where as the px8 S2 looks amazing in my opinion but some people seems to hate the sound.. I'm favoring sound as #1 criteria and sadly since both bads ANC which would be my second criteria I would at least like something not terrible looking. Is the px8

bass lift 2026-05-01

1. iPhone and Mac user here - no volume issues at all for me. 2. The sound signature of the HDB 630 is neutral-ish but not like dead neutral and boring - there’s still a bass lift in the stock tuning e.g. I love the term „consumerphile“ for them ;) 3. I used APM (first gen) in the past and clearly prefer the HDB 630 here. Even more than that, they are my favorite wireless headphones, especially at this price point. All of that said, ultimately you and your own ears must be the deciding factor here.

easier and more pleasant to listen to 2026-03-14

Honestly, not even close. But, and this is a hot take, the HDB 630 is easier and more pleasant to listen to. As much as I praise the HD 800 and 800S for it's amazing imaging, texture, and lack of distortion, their frequency responses have much to be desired and I don't think they sound very natural (This is apparent when listening to vocal content that isn't music. Voices simply don't sound realistic)

Buying Questions About Sennheiser HDB 630

Quick answers to the main review, complaints, buyer-fit, and comparison questions shoppers ask before choosing Sennheiser HDB 630.

Is the Sennheiser HDB 630 the best-sounding wireless headphone?

By owner consensus, it's right at the top — repeatedly recommended when sound quality is the main criterion, preferred over the AirPods Max and PX8 S2, and called a clear upgrade over the Momentum 4. Sound is its defining strength.

How does the HDB 630 stock tuning sound?

Owners describe it as neutral-ish with a pleasing bass lift — one calls the stock tuning almost flawless. It's also more tunable and less opinionated than some rivals if you want to adjust it.

Is the HDB 630 well built and comfortable?

This is its weak point. Owners describe the build as plasticky and not premium-feeling, question the comfort, and some dislike the big, plain look. If feel and aesthetics matter, weigh that against the sound.

Is the HDB 630 worth the price?

For sound, owners think so — but the price is a common complaint, with one calling it ludicrously priced for how it feels. It's worth it if sound is your priority; less so if you want premium build for the money.

Does the HDB 630 have audio issues when gaming with the mic?

One owner found game audio quality drops once the mic is active in Discord, which appears to be an expected Bluetooth bidirectional-codec limitation rather than a defect. If you game with chat constantly, it's worth knowing.

HDB 630 vs Momentum 4: which is better?

For sound, an owner who upgraded found the HDB 630 a clear step up in clarity and soundstage over the Momentum 4. The Momentum 4 remains a strong-value choice, but the HDB 630 is the sound upgrade.
